"The Lopez Family Foundation will focus its attention on and adopt strategies that will achieve maximum impact in the following two areas related to women and children’s well-being: The Foundation will work to expand the number of telemedicine clinics both domestically and abroad, which will improve access to a new, interactive, technologically advanced healthcare solution. The Foundation will work to expand into other program areas which help create healthier lives for our underserved women and children, with the goal of touching both individual lives and entire communities. Jennifer Lopez and the Lopez Family Foundation are so grateful to have been presented with the 2013 American Telemedicine Association Humanitarian Award for the Foundation’s contributions to pediatric and maternal healthcare. Jennifer proudly accepted the award at a private event in Los Angeles and Todd Hovey, Managing Director of the Lopez Family Foundation attended the ATA annual conference to accept the award presented by GlobalMed Director, Joel Barthelemy. Telemedicine has been a key focus of the Lopez Family Foundation since its inception, and have shown their support of this invaluable technology through deployment of telemedicine centers in Latin America. The Lopez Family Foundation telemedicine centers provide underserved populations with access to world-class healthcare provided through a partnership with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. ATA chose to honor the Foundation “for the amazing impact they have made as well as the attention they have brought to telemedicine as a tool for modern, equitable healthcare.” The Lopez Family Foundation has seen how access to telemedicine can save lives and create a significant impact in underserved markets, and looks forward to continuing their support with ATA and beyond."
